Taste Buchanan takes home the top gong at the REVO Awards
Last year, CADA Design worked alongside StreetDots to redesign Buchanan Galleries food court. With the client, we turned it into a vibrant street-food hub that will excite and engage with the modern shopper.
Last week, Taste Buchanan took home the top gong at the REVO Opal awards held in London on Wednesday 5th March. Taste Buchanan, a joint venture between street trading platform StreetDots and Land Securities, won the overall Aurora award at the event that celebrates the best in commercialisation programmes across UK retail destinations. Painted picnic tables, chalkboards, fly-posting and synthetic grass flooring reflect a playful festival atmosphere.
StreetDots create spaces that street traders can sell from so that they can reach a wider audience and, in turn, grow their business. They believe that if small businesses are given good opportunities to trade. They can create a far more interesting market and cities will flourish through this entrepreneurial attitude.
StreetDots wanted to bring the same theatre to Taste Buchanan, it’s first indoor project, according to StreetDots co-founder and CADA Director, Darren Callcott.
“Many street food traders dream of opening their own permanent premises, but it’s often a huge leap for them. Taste Buchanan gives them a low-cost way to trial indoor trading and learn before taking the plunge themselves,” he said.
Commenting on the recognition by the judges, Land Securities mall retail manager John Bloomer said: “Taste Buchanan winning the Aurora Grand Prix award is particularly pleasing as it’s been a huge transformation of this area within Buchanan Galleries and the partnership with StreetDots is now bearing fruit in terms of new brands, popular new operators, consumer sales and creation of Scotland’s first street food hub in Glasgow.”
Taste Buchanan is open 7 days a week, for more info download the StreetDots app @StreetDots.
