Buchanan Gallerie’s traditional food court model revamped to feed Scotland’s growing appetite for street food.
CADA Design collaborated with StreetDots and Land Securities to transform the top floor of Buchanan Galleries into an artisan street-style food market. Taste Buchanan aims to celebrate local chefs and traders and showcase Scottish-sourced produce.
The top floor of Buchanan Galleries has been converted into an energetic indoor street food hub. Equipped with four hot food kiosks, bar, coffee bar and two dessert carts.
CADA took inspiration from StreetDots existing brand guidelines and have created a playful tone of voice that is relatable to the Glaswegian audience. Each kiosk will rotate every 8-16 weeks so CADA has created a flexible and customisable design, using hooks, pegs and varying colour palettes.
Darren Callcott, co-founder of StreetDots, said: “The popularity of street food is growing faster than any other category, and there is a real appetite for the culinary trend right now. Street food is about creative artisan dishes being prepared by highly skilled people with a passion for serving fast-moving fresh food to suit customer demand.
Street food culture is growing in prominence in all the major cities worldwide, but for a leading shopping mall like Buchanan Galleries to dedicate its much sought-after space to the concept really is ground-breaking, & we’re sure Glasgow will embrace it.”
